“Like Baptism which it completed, Confirmation is given only once, for it too imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual mark, the “character”, which is the sign that Jesus Christ has marked a Christian with the seal of his Spirit by clothing him with power from on high so that he may be his witness  — CCC 1304

Service

Jesus Taught us how to Serve Others

“What we do, we do for Christ, with Christ, to Christ” – Mother Teresa

As a disciple of Christ, we are commanded to love one another, and we can show this love through acts of service.

People often have done service for so many hours, with a beginning and an end date. Serving as a disciple means that we are using the gifts, talents and passions to begin a lifelong commitment to discipleship and building our relationship with Christ. God has given us many gifts which we can use to serve others and make good disciples.

The SHAPE will be incorporate in the preparation for Confirmation which will help you discover those gifts.

Please remember that service is the life of a disciple. If you are already serving that is fine but consider finding another area to serve.

Which service counts for which category?

  • Service at Home: Family hours should be a service over what you normally do as part of your family responsibilities. The service should focus on building up and serving the family.
  • Service at the Parish: Service that you do as an individual or as a group to help the community in which we live. Service with the parish is focusing on being an active member of the parish community.
  • Service in the Community: Service that helps the local community.
